A modern-day matchmaker of sorts, Andy Salek – long-term local, heli-ski guide, film producer and apartment owner – founded Staysouth way back in 2006 as a way to bring together empty luxury apartments and villas with discerning holidaymakers. Creating one beautiful holiday experience after another.

What started as a modest outfit with two properties, Staysouth has grown to manage over 50 different villas and apartments in Queentown’s most popular locations.

Whether it’s your annual family ski retreat or an intimate getaway for two. Maybe it’s an adventure weekend to rival any watercooler chat or a bit of rancho relaxo (conveniently) close to wine country, Staysouth offers an extensive selection of accommodation possibilities to suit any Queenstown holiday.

Because no one knows a town quite like the locals do, our dedicated concierge service is committed to offering unparalleled knowledge, local expertise and up-to-date insider tips.

You name it – we can either recommend it, book it, or simply talk you through it.

Whether it’s adventure activities like local hiking tracks, biking trails and heliskiing, or luxury activities such as flights to Milford Sound, a world-class fine dining experience or a winery tour and degustation lunch, we can source the best option for your appetite.

It might be as simple as a guide to shopping locally, a rundown of the nightlife hot spots, or even finding somewhere to park, Staysouth’s concierge team are on hand to help when you need them. As long-term locals who have been active in all aspects of tourism, we have both the experience and knowledge to ensure your time in Queenstown is unique to you.

Meet Our Team

Originally hailing from Ireland Elaine moved to Queenstown in 2016. Since then she has immersed herself in the local culture, now playing for local sports teams in her spare time. As Staysouth's Operations Co-Ordinator, Elaine oversees a range of departments including Housekeeping, Maintenance & Recruitment to ensure the smooth running of the operational side of the business.

Euan’s multifaceted role sees him cover reservations, general administration and light marketing duties. Euan joined Staysouth us after 5 years in the hotel industry, the most recent of which as the Head Concierge of a highly regarded Queenstown Hotel.

Sonya commenced with Staysouth in 2008, oversees all facets of the company and is extremely well connected in the local marketplace. Originally from South Africa Sonya has lived in Queenstown for 25+ years and has an extensive background in tourism and property development.

Jan provides systems support to the team at Staysouth with his main focus on reservations backend, systems development and implementation. Originally from Denmark, Jan brings vast international experience managing, designing and implementing IT systems for large companies and has been living in Queenstown since 2005

Adela is our master of quality control and ensures all apartments and villas are fit and ready for incoming guests. During the quieter times Adela is happy to don the cleaning gloves but the majority of her time is spent co-managing the housekeeping team. Always smiling Adela brings a strong administrative skillset and is a valued member of our team.

Andy’s primary roles within the company are Sales, Marketing, Business Development and the facilitation of Visitor Accommodation Resource Consents. Andy has been a Queenstown local for 30 years with a background in Visitor Accommodation, Real Estate, Adventure Tourism and Screen Production. A committed outdoor enthusiast - Andy also works as a senior heli-ski guide in the winter for Harris Mountains Heliski.

NIshu looks after financial reporting, accounts, payroll and human resources administration. Originally from India, Nishu moved to NZ in 2014. Having attained a chartered accountancy degree in India, NZ, and Australia, Nishu has garnered vast work experience whilst performing accounting in hotel industries across India, Malaysia, & New Zealand. Having worked in both public and private practice, NIshu offers a broad skillset and in her personal time, in between working and being a mum, Nishu loves to go for long walks & watch movies.

Staysouth in the Community

Staysouth is an active member of the local Queenstown Community providing ongoing support for fundraising initiatives in the areas of education, medical, mental health and charity.

As locals with children who are all current or graduates of the local schools we see it as our duty to contribute to children’s education in the Wakatipu.

We also support fundraising further afield for causes that we feel strongly about and have made significant contributions to I Am Hope Foundation, Starship Hospital, NZ Brain Cancer Trust, Autism NZ, to name a few.

Sustainability & Eco Practice

We at Staysouth have a dedicated social and environmental conscience and we are continuously evaluating our operations to minimize the impact we have on our beautiful Queenstown.

We have simplified our practices. By only using select biosafe EcoLab products for all property cleaning, and replacing bathroom amenities with Body Zone products – a sustainable and socially responsible choice – we are committed to making our properties environmentally friendly whilst minimizing waste and pollution.

Frequently Asked Questions About Staysouth

What are Staysouth office hours?

Our office hours are 9 am-6 pm however sometimes our staff are out and about however the phones are diverted and always answered between these hours.

What happens if I need to get in touch with Staysouth after office hours?

After office hours our phones are diverted to our duty manager in charge with voicemail and email notification ensuring messages are responded to promptly

Where is your head office located?

We are centrally located at 159 Gorge Road, Unit 22, Queenstown

Do I need to report to the head office to check-in?

All apartment and check-in details are emailed to each guest ahead of time, meaning there is no need to visit our head office.

Where do I collect keys when checking in?

All of our apartments are equipped with either digital keypads or lockboxes, meaning keys do not need to be collected. Your access details will be sent to you on the day of check-in (guaranteed by 3 pm).

Do you provide assistance with luggage storage?

Luggage storage can be provided either in the apartment itself or alternatively in our office; whichever option works best for both our guests and our team.

My flight arrives early in the morning, what are my options?

Typically, we release the door code for the apartments as soon as they are ready. If this cannot be guaranteed until 3 pm in the instance of back to back bookings, we can assist with luggage storage either at the property itself (as the housekeeping team will likely be on-site) or in our head office.

My departure flight is not until late in the afternoon, what are my options?

Late check-out can be offered for an additional cost if there is no back to back booking in place. Please simply contact our friendly reservations team if this is the case.

How do I provide feedback?

Feedback on all aspects of our guest’s stay is paramount in continuing to provide the best possible service. Feedback cards are available in all of our rooms and we encourage and actively respond to all online reviews.
