The most kiwi of all activities here in Queenstown is of course the Bungy! Home to the humble bungy, there is no better place to do it than here. Have you even been to Queenstown if you haven’t done a bungy?!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, the idea is that you throw yourself head first of a ledge or a bridge attached to what can only be described as a glorified rubber band.

The creator AJ Hackett has set up 3 different bungy sites in Queenstown:

Kawarau Bridge – This was the original commercial bungy, it sits 43m above the Kawarau river and is a good option if you are just wanting to dip your toes into the bungy scene. Also the only site which allows you to jump tandem if you need a little moral support to help you take the leap

The Nevis – This is the highest bungy in New Zealand standing a whopping 134m above the Nevis River only accessible through private farm land. The Nevis provides the longest freefall – although the Ledge is 400m above Queenstown the actual jump is pretty similar to that of the Kawarau Bridge.

The Ledge – The Ledge is the best option for those who want to jump a little differently. Situated 400m above Queenstown on Bobs peak, the special harness which ties around your waist allows you to leap head first, or backwards or flip off – you decide.
