Prince William and his wife Catherine arrived at Queenstown Airport on Sunday, April 13, in a Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757. They were met by Queenstown Mayor Vanessa van Uden and her husband Peter Laurenson before being driven past thousands of adoring fans to their first stop, Amisfield winery.

Amisfield owner John Darby was among the welcoming party that greeted the Royal couple to the winery. More than 30 of the region’s best wines were tasted, and the Duke and Duchess were informed on why the Central Otago wine region is so unique.

The Royal couple then travelled past more fans waiting at Millbrook corner as they made their way to Shotover Jet for a thrilling 25-minute jet boat ride through the world-renowned Shotover River Canyons.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed the night in Queenstown – it was their first night away from their son Prince George while on their New Zealand tour.

Here at Staysouth.com, we’re busy looking forward to Easter accommodation bookings in our luxury apartments. The resort is going to be bustling with visitors and locals alike with plenty of events on, like the Queenstown Bike Festival and Warbirds Over Wanaka
