This weekend Queenstown is hosting the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open bringing golf enthusiasts from all over to our little slice of paradise. Although the open is being held at Millbrook and The Hills which have plenty of great dining options, we are here to talk about some of Arrowtown’s best cafes and restaurants to head to in-between rounds.

We have put together a few of our favourite spots to grab a bite:

Cafes:

The Chop Shop

Arrow Lane, Arrowtown

Filled with quirky vintage furniture this café is a hard one to find tucked away in Arrow Lane but is a rewarding find for those that veer of the main street. The menu focuses on clean fresh and healthy food with a bit of and Asian twist. Like many of the regions cafes, The Chop Shop sources local produce designing the menu around what is in season, and what’s more they update the menu every couple of days, keeping the locals on their toes.

Provisions

65 Buckingham Street, Arrowtown

Set in a quaint miner’s cottage, Provisions is the place to go if you are a fan of preserves. While they offer delicious traditional food which can be enjoyed in the outdoor garden seating, the jams and chutneys alike are where they really shine.

Restaurants:

La Rumbla

54 Buckingham Street

Located behind the post office, La Rumbla’s menu showcases a mixture of flavours from around the globe. Incorporating bold flavours from Mexico, Spain and France in a tapas style menu, and of course all produce is locally sourced showcasing the best of Otago.

Postmasters

54 Buckingham Street

Arrowtown is known for its rich heritage and Postmasters is no exception. This idyllic restaurant operates out of the carefully preserved cottage which once was home to the towns Postmaster. Diners will enjoy a cosy interior inspired by the early settler days, or on a warm summer evening there is a verandah which opens out into the beautiful gardens, perfect for al fresco dining.
